The one most important point I&#039;d like to stress is to remain positive in self-promoting.  It&#039;s often been said that in an interview, one should never badmouth a previous employer, and this holds especially true when dealing with prospective customers and mentors as well.

Also, it&#039;s important to remember the point of the promotion itself.  For my business, I like to focus on skills specific to what the customer needs.  It is not, however, a good idea to use self-promoting to boost one&#039;s ego.  Focus on what&#039;s important, and avoid language which seems ego-based (&quot;I myself,&quot; &quot;solely me,&quot; &quot;my own skillset,&quot; etc).  Doing reports, summaries, etc. in passive voice can help with this.
