How does your network benefit you?

I’m writing a passage in my book about the power of having a large network. The more supporters you have, the more your network can support you without being a burden on any one member of your community.

Do you have any examples of how your network has helped you? As usual, your response constitutes approval to use your comments in the book.

Thanks!

  1. Rob Hooft says:

When my previous employer decided to eliminate my job, I talked to people in my network about the fact that I would soon need new work. Through my network I was brought into contact with my current employer. For this job there has not been any advertising.

  2. I managed to develop a wonderful set of supporters within my previous employer, and others around the industry of professional coaches. I didn’t know how much this would help me in my tough career choices after I lost my job.

As it turns out, it was a TREMENDOUS support. First, I have people who just give me moral support when I’m struggling with confidence and optimism.

Second, I’ve gotten a lot of advice, ideas, and connections from these people – that’s helped me to make the decision to start my own business, and to learn how to do that.

Those connections are now providing me the beginning of my business, accelerating my ability to get customers.

Finally, I’ve been able to help some of THOSE people too, which has helped me to create some of those win/win relationships that we’re all searching for.
