NLP was developed in the mid-70s by John Grinder, a Professor at UC Santa Cruz and Richard Bandler, a graduate student. NLP, as most people use the term today, is a set of models of how communication impacts and is impacted by subjective experience. It's more a collection of tools than any overarching theory.

Much of early NLP was based on the work of Virginia Satir, a family therapist; Fritz Perls, founder of Gestalt therapy; Gregory Bateson, anthropologist; and Milton Erickson, hypnotist.

General Information Oriented NLP Resources Test

• Mind Mapping your brain and more; how to get straight 'A' marks, defining NLP and NLP presuppositions, NLP poetry, and Steve Boyley's unique presentation. This web site has several topics displayed as Mind Maps.
• Jonathan Altfeld has published several logs of NLP topics from the Internet Relay Chat. This information can't be found anywhere else.
• A Netherlands Web site featuring reviews, organization listings, etc. The site is nicely designed, and primarily written in Dutch. The URL is http://www.notenbomer.nl/nlp/
• An Austrian NLP Server with an large interactive dictionary of NLP terms (in German) at http://www.nlp.at.
• There is a new Brazilian NLP server at http://www.pnlbrasil.com.br (outside of Brazil), and http://www.golfinho.com.br (within Brazil).
• The new German server. Die Home page der AG NLP ist http://www.nlp.de.
• Thorsten Hassiepen's German server.
• The Junfermannsche Verlagsbuchhandlung is on the Internet and informs us via World Wide Web (http://www.junfermann.de) with its books and magazines about the development of NLP and, of course, about other fields which characterize its substantial range of information.
• A Dublin Web page about therapy, Ericksonian hypnosis, and NLP.
• Germany's server. Created July, 15th 1995, by Dr. Franz-Josef Huecker, Berlin. This Web page is about NLP in German-speaking countries.

NLP Groups and non-Commercial organizations

• The Richmond NLP Group http://www.trance.dircon.co.uk/richmond.html - a showcase for NLP in SW London. No experience of NLP needed.
• The London NLP Group - a practice and support group open to all which meets every week, is now online at http://www.nlpgroup.freeserve.co.uk.
• IASH has a fairly new Conference Web Board, where one can contribute and share research results, collaborated research projects, and much more. It is extremely good, and interactive with NLPers around the world.

NLP Talk

NLPTalk-Reserve has been created by Jeff Oliver for people with an interest in NLP to have a forum in which they can meet people with a similar interest and together learn from those in our community. The levels of experience and training of listmembers is very broad, ranging as it does from the newly discovered interest, and people who have spent many years building on their skills through to trainers, who have made this their life's work.
