Hi, everyone,
The world is in a lot of chaos at the moment. I’ve been struggling with how to cope, what to pay attention to, and how to show up in the world.
It’s not obvious. I was raised in a traveling New Age polyamorous hippie commune. My rebellion was Harvard Business School (at the time, I thought I was being edgy. Turns out, not so much). Then I spent decades trying to be a “proper Harvard MBA.” I even bought a suit! And it’s not working for me any more.
So I’m going to stop.
Instead of letting my skills define me, I’m going to let me define me, and use the skills to design what’s next. You’re invited. Come join me!
“Begin with the end in mind.” But what if you don’t?
The most incredible, amazing, marvelous, extraordinary time of my life happened during a 3-year experiment. In that experiment, I explicitly rejected goals, planning, and the things we’re taught about how to succeed.
Instead, I let myself be guided by my curiosity and intuition. That’s a big stretch. I’ve always been Mr. Analysis. Intuition? Not so much.
The experiment worked. I started a top-10 iTunes podcast. I published a book with a major publisher. I co-founded two companies. I wrote and performed a two-person musical about personal productivity and Zombies. Teaser reel, performed by professional musical theater actors can be found here. It was spectacular!
I did a TEDx MillRiver talk about this and then expanded it to an hour. You can hear the audio and view the slides here, if you want.
But … at three years and one day, my brain turned off “experiment mode” and went back into “do things the right way” mode. It’s been twelve years, and I miss the experiment.
So I’m officially restarting the Experiment. And I’m inviting you to come with me. By its very nature, I don’t know where we’ll be going. But it will be fun, educational, inspiring, and creative.
And if we explore directions that could lead to workshops, courses, or programs, we’ll go there!
Some of the topics I know we’ll be covering:
- The “Organizational Big Bang” moment. The true story a 4-person chat became a 70-person non-profit … in five days.
- How to make yourself the “go-to” person in your community
- Communication skills
- AI and business strategy
- AI and personal workflow
- Whether AI is conscious, and if so, how to make sure you’re a favored supplicant when it takes over the world
- How I lost 60 pounds in eight months to the day, with almost no discomfort, by calorie counting and inventing some novel ways to think about food tradeoffs
- Productivity tips and tricks
- How to learn and teach, and replicate expertise
… and who knows what else!
The “Organizational Big Bang” is up next, because it happened less than a week ago.
Creating a new organization at light speed is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Stay tuned to for an inside look…
